cleaning reptile tank for fish

not sure yet im open to suggestions was think maybe some more african cichlids like i have in my 40 gallon or maybe some native american fish like brim an catfish or something like that maybe even do a salt water setup im new to this hobby so i dont know alot about this type of thing . i would like the tank to be colorfull atleast
