Hi
I got a 107 gallons tank with 2 oscars (about 3-4 inch) and 1 pleco (4 inch).
I do weekly waterchanges, but my question is on cleaning the soil from fish droppings. How often do u do that? Normally I‘m doing this at every water change but I read about some people who never clean it.
Any opinions about that?

I think it’s good thing to vacuum the substrate every time.
The only tanks that I don’t vacuum are planted then I still vacuum just over the surface.

I usually clean up gravel every time or every other time I clean the tank. So much crap in there it’s disgusting.
107 is gonna be too small real fast with two oscars and a pleco.

I would certainly vacuum the surface of the sand at every water change. It is amazing how much accumuluates. The oscars, the pleco and the nerites are all poop-spitting machines. I also like to have some cories (any kind), which are great at digging into the surface layers of the sand, thus reducing greatly the possibility of anoxic pockets to develop. The nerites do a little of that but not as well or to the extent that the cories do, and the pleco simply does not help with that.
The oscars will grow fast, and that pleco looks like an albino common (is it?), eventually reaching about a foot. So you may be good for now but not forever. Good luck!
