Cleaning salt water sump for fresh water use?

I just got a sump that was used for salt water and I want to use it on my fresh water tank. What is the best way to clean the sump and filter media?

I rinsed mine outside with the waterhouse then let it air dry unless u r raising a very salt sensitive fish a little salt residue won't hurt anything

rinse it out with vinegar and water

Hose it out, wipe it down with vinegar to help remove mineral deposits, not a necessary step, just for appearances.

+3 just clean and use, I've never had a problem using my salt stuff in my fresh tanks, most times I don't even clean it.

I have always just rinsed and used, I have African cichlids and they never seem to mind any salt residue.

I am a huge vinegar fan. It makes whiping off coraline and other salty deposits like butter.. I have also just plugged in a ran with it without ever having an issue. I prefer to have things looking clean though.
