Ok so I finally got to the point where I could wash the sand for my new tank and put it n the tank. I bought a bunch of estes' ultra reef black sand. I had started washing it monday last week. Just to see w I was going to be dealing with. Well yesterday me and my G/F decided it was time to wash the rest. Well between the both of us washing about 80bls. 10-15lbs. at a time it took almost an hour. And I know I still didn't get it clean enough.
how many people like the look of sand but hate the prep to get it in your tank. I know I like to look so far but there isn't even water in the tank. But damn I think from here on out its going to be bare bottom tanks for me. Then I will have tanks with gravel sand and bare bottoms.
By the way whoever else has washed colored sand. Did it "stain" the buckets you were using? This stuff did I had to go back with a rag and wipe the buckets out real good so I didn't have a black film on the inside of them.
