how do u keep sand clean i try vacuuming it but all it does is get clogged up with sand the water stays cloudy because of debris in sand if anyone knows how to keep sand clean let me know

you should put in a gravel jet system... it'll keep most of the stuff "airborne" for the filter.

Or try hovering over the sand and picking up the debri. That is what I have been doing for the past few years with my sand tanks.

use a smaller hose that has less suction power. Like Chad said try hovering over without actualy picking up the sand. You can also just stir it up a bit around the hose so the debris floats up out of the sand should sink back down because it is heavier. You could also try to get a few inverts to clean up the sand bed (ghost shrimp maybe) or even a smaller breed of loach like a yoyo loach, they love to dig and would stir up the sand for you, from there make sure you have a good filter that will turn over the water quickly.

I'm glad you asked this. I am thinking of doing a sand bottom in my next tank and was wondering how to keep it clean.
