Hey everybody i just purchased a 90 gallon tank from craigslist. It has stains everywhere because it was previously used as a saltwater tank...so its loaded with stains n grime. I heard vinegar and bleach are good to clean them with... i will go out tomorrow to purchase them right now all i have is lysol can i use that for now and try to rid as much as i can? for bearded dragon

I dont suggest it, I dont suggest bleach either.

Warm vinegar does the trick.
I would just wait if i were you and use vinegar.

I wouldn't, just wait untill you get the vinegar. your most likely dealing with coralline, vinegar takes it right off. you'll need a razor blade or 2 also to help scrape it off.

Do not use Lysol. It is extremely toxic.

All you need is vinegar and water. Let it soak for 2 days, and it will wipe right off.

x2 that would be completly insane to use lysol to clean a fish tank. But that is what these kinda sites are for.

Lysol will leave a residue and will not completely evaporate. It is also unlikely to be completely water soluble which means it wont rinse out. It will likely end up causing problems.

Like others have suggested vinegar will work wonders. Soak a paper towel in vinegar and let it soak the problem areas. Then scrape off with a razor blade or old credit card. Bleach is fine as a disinfectant, just rinse well or let the tank sit for 24-36 hours and it will all evaporate.
