For those with elaborate setups, not bare glass where you can take out all the pices, how do you clean them? Where you cant scrub the walls with bleach and water.

Unless there is problem like a patogen we usualy dont clean our naturalistic tarrarriums that way, only clean a bit the plants leafs, replace some substrate, etc. Some can even work like tiny ecossistems

Does that mite spray really work, do you guys recommend it?

I would use "repel" around the cage and a commercial spray for using it on the animals. repel has the same basic ingredient as any commercial mite spray but it is much cheaper and can be found in walmart.

As far as cleaning a nice terrarium goes, spot cleaning is all that is necessary but about twice a year I go through and completely replace the substrate and soak the greenery (if it is fake) in bleach water then spray the enclosure with bleach, wipe it down, and then rinse it and wipe it down again before I put the substrate and decorations back into it.

ive never had to deal with mites so i have no first hand experiance with it. but ive heard mixed reviews of the stuff that is sold in pet stores.

What kind of mite related prob are you facing?
Non, Im just asking in advance. Ill be done with the enclosure in about a month and just want to know these things before any problems come up. Thanks

generally if you keep quality reps and keep up with everything you wont have to face a mite problem. i have been keeping reps for about 17 years and i have never had a mite issue

its really only an issue if you are importing snakes or if you have a lot of turn over with your animals.
