A buddy of mine just gave me a 90 gallon tank that his next door neighbor wanted to get rid of. It looks like the guy drained and then just put it in his garage. The inside of the glass has alot of hard water/calcium looking stains on it and ive tried everything from vinegar to clr cleaner to some citrus glass cleaner and i still cant a majority of it off. Anyone know anything else that works for projects like this. Other than these glass stains the tank is in great shape. Thanks you for any help!!!!

I had the same problem with a used tank I bought a while ago. I cleaned it for hours and still had the same problem. But I noticed when the glass was wet I couldn't see the water stains anymore. So I filled it with water and could not longer see the stains because it wasn't dry on the iside anymore. Just something to think about. If you can't see them when the tank is wet you won't see them when it's filled. Good luck getting them off as best as you can.

White Vinegar and a Razor Blade. If it's not coming off with this, you aren't trying hard enough. I've done this with THE WORST looking tanks, and after I'm done, they look like new.

I like to soak a towel in the white vinegar and then set it on the effected area. Then let it soak like that for an hour or more. Then go at it with a razor blade.

That always does it. It doesn't matter how thick the hard water stains are. It just takes time, patience, and a lot of elbow grease.
