i have pool filter sand in my tank and run a wet dry with two overflow boxes. and for some reason.. it pushes all the poop into two piles.. i guess it turned out for the best. now whats the best way to scoop up the crap? a net? scoop it all up and shake till the sand comes out and all you have left is doo? or is there another alternative. what do yall do?

thanks

i have pool filter sand in my tank and when the poo builds up i just take my vacuum and get the poop. place the tube about 1/2 in above the sand and it sucks it up

yep, just use the hose, the suction is much greater due to the fact the hose has much smaller diameter than the head of the vacuum

Or get MTS, they bury into the sand during the day but surface at night to eat, algae left over foods etc. Best snail ever.

i beg to differ, they don't eat algea and my yoyos and puffer hate them.

perfect snail would be like a mts only have a raging hunger for algea and a softer shell.

but ya most of the time all the more work i do with my sand is simply move the gravel vac over the sand and all the poo and stuff gets picked up easily.

My clown loaches and africans never seem to have trouble eating them :irked:. OK, They arent algae gods, but when i look on my glass after awhile without a good scrap you can see where they've been, carving neat little designs into the algae. You know like cropcircles, pictures, game of tic tac toe, etc etc
