Hey guys,

I am setting up a 75 gallon I picked up from a friend, which used to be a salt tank. The overflow has salt and calcium deposits on it. I know I can clean up the glass with a straight edge razor blade but what would you guys recommend for cleaning the overflow box.

P.S. the tank will be freshwater.

muratic acid. use rubber gloves and use outside. works like a charm !

White vinegar and some hard work should do it... but if it really bad some light sanding with the vinegar solution might help. I have a 180 that was a saltwater and the overflows were horrible.

I had to take them out, sand the hell out of them... slapped on a couple coats of Krylon fusion and they look like new.

Looks like vinegar is going to be the ticket.

Claude3rd, what grit sand paper did you use? My overflow are not that bad but just in case.

Thanks guys
