I have a tank that I am preppin and I've tried everything to get the calcium off. Razor, vinegar, lemon juice, brillo-pads, muriatic acid, goo gone.....it's still there. Its fighting me hard.
yeah i have a tank running now that has some slight calcium buildup i just scrubbed it the best i could... im gonna keep an eye on this thread cuz i'd like to know how to get it off more efficiently as well
All you can really do is scrape it off I use an old credit card mines really bad as I am on a well. You have to make sure you do it every week so it does not build up to bad. For filters I take my media out and leave it soaking in a bucket of tank water. Then I soak them in vinegar for a few hours also soak my heaters. Then rinse really good with cold water. Then swish your media around in the bucket of tank water and put back. Hope this helps.
i use a razor for the inside. Like one of the nice ones with a god handle for some leverage.
And on the outside. I just put a towel where the lid and sides of tank meet and then use windex and scrape then it with the razor. or you can use like the industrial cleaners but you have to really be careful that it doesnt get inside.
As for scratches the best thing i can think of to do is to just look around them.
