I'm getting tired to picking out all the excess ray food out of my tank after theyre done eating.. Just curious what fish/cats/poly's or what you're using to clean up the extra food.. I'm not talking a bunch of food here, but when they're almost done eating they like to chew on it and leave it for me to clean up..:irked: I hate wasting food so i'd like someone to get fat and happy off it before it goes in the toilet..lol

Niger cats look cool and suck up everything like a vacuum cleaner. Only thing is they might eat the food meant for your rays!

Twin bar tinfoils (they he black stripes in the red fins) they eat ray poo. And other fishes poo.

I have 3 rays, 9,7,7 inch and I rarely see ray poos on the gravel

I have geos too and they're perfect for this. When the ray swims away and leaves some leftover food behind they clean it up within minutes... plus they sift the sand constantly, cleaning it and even breaking up the poop so I rarely have to gravel vac.

I have a couple Satanoperca Jurupari right now, maybe i need to add a couple more. I do see them sifting some just not much, My Orange Heads i sold a little while ago sifted way more.. What kind of Geo's do you have ?? I sold my Orange Heads because i figured they'd get eaten by my rays.. :(
Not sure about the tinfoils, last time i tried them they became ray food..lol But they're cheap enough to try again.. :)

i have Geophagus altifrons

i also have a group of black bar silver dollars that also help. But the geo's seem to eat anything including feces or atleast pick at it.

got to agree with ade on this tinfoils they do the job great, depending on the size of your geo's and rays your at risk of the rays taking a liking to the geos, the tinfoils get alot bigger then the geos and are faster.

I have orange heads, and they're constantly sifting, same as keepinfish said... I have ten of them so they do a complete job.

But my angels and severums also pick at the leftovers so everybody is like a cleanup crew I guess.

I wish i never sold my Altifrons a couple years back.. :( They were super nice and big too.. I think my Geo's are safe "for now".. They're 8" right now, and my rays are 14, 14, 12, & 11.. I might have to take a look at Silver Dollars, i've never been a fan of them, but might have to change my mind if they can get the job done..lol
