My friend just came back from Italy and gave me a Duff Beer Bottle (like in The Simpsons) as a present. My eel currently hides in a Mississippi Mud Bottle and I thought it would be a great idea to add the Duff Bottle as well. The Mississppi Mud Bottle has been with the eel the whole time (about 8 months) so don't try to lecture me on beer bottles in tanks. The difference between these two beer bottles is that the Mississippi Mud bottle has a plastic label, where as the Duff one is paper.

I've been looking into some clear acrylic sprays I could put on the label so that it doesn't wear off in the water. Searching these forums I found this post:

The polyurethane spray in gloss or satin works well. The acrylic spray reacts with water over time. I use the Minwax Fast Drying Polyurethane spray.

I usually spray a coat and let dry. Then shoot another coat and let sit in your garage or someplace like that for a week. There should be very little plastic smell when the pieces are dry and the finish should be hard. I hear some folks soak their finished pieces in water for a day or two to leach out any leftover VOC's. This is great for store bought decorations.

You will find that the paint on the decoration will not come off and will fade a lot less. When you need to scrub the algae off just use an old soft toothbrush under running water and bang, you're done. I scrubbed mine yesterday along with my water change.

Would what this person is suggesting work for my purposes? If not, what would? What have some of you tried in similar projects?

Does anyone have any advice for me on accomplishing this?

My Tank:
50g Brackish
1 Red Scat
1 Mono Argentus
1 Orange Chromide
3 Nerite Snails
1 gymnothorax tile

1 HOB power filter, 1 sponge filter

Thanks for the replies, guys.

I was wondering, what's the most cost efficient way to do this?
Seems like I'll need an awful lot of epoxy for this and from what I hear it can be a tad pricey...
