I have a Gold Saum (Green Terror) and I have noticed that his feces has been clear the last couple of days. It doesn't look like a worm or anything unusual, just that it is clear.

Could this be an internal parasite or something?

The water parameters are good and I have excellent filtration.
He is in a 55 gal by himself. I tried to take a picture, but they didn't turn out very good.

Thanks!

Idk if Sevs get it but my O had clear feces when he had HITH!!!

white and stringy poo is generally considered a sign of internal parasites . . .

It is not always an accurate sign. It could be internal parasites or simply discharge of excess slime from the intestines. If you are worried, you can always deworm them with Prazipro or Droncit. Droncit is obtainable in veterinary clinics while Prazipro should be available in fish store online sites and/or pet stores. Praziquantel also destroys flukes, is a mild treatment and does not interfere with the nitrogen cycle so you have all the bonuses from its use.;) Don't overuse it. Improper use can result in more resistant strains of flagellates, flukes and other parasites which does not make it any different to antibiotics that also produce resistant strains of bacteria from its improper use.

agreed, that's why I used the hedge "generally" . . . personally, when I think I see strong indications of internal parasites - - which is very seldom - - I do a treatment using Jungle medicated fish food (medicated with praziquantel and metronidazone) . . .

I'm not saying this is the best approach, but I haven't had any problems with it . . .

one time when i first got my flower horn they got that from lots of brine shrimp..but they wer ok.....and it can happen by over feeding them anything they cant digest fast enough and its clear and floats...this is just my theory

Thanks everyone!

I was able to find some of the Jungle Medicated Fish Food.
I will give it a try.
