hi everyone
i have my neighbor drawing me a background for my flowerhorn tank
he is drawing on posterboards and i was wondering if i can use krylon clearcoat on the board..
would that work?
thanks!

all depends what hes drawing it with...

if hes doing it with something that wont run/smudge if it gets damp/wet then yes.. if hes doing it with something water based (water colors for instance) then no..

u can use spray fixative...much like clear coat but less likely to bleed. Your best bet is to get it lamanated or your neighbor will be re-doing it very soon

It may sound good in theory, but in practice, no matter how careful you are the poster board is going to soak up water. But it is inevitable that is is going to soak up water and turn to mush. (Call me crazy but you weren't thinking of using it inside the tank, right?) Tape it to the back of the outside of the tank.

yeahhh its going to be outside the tank..
he is using acylic paint covering once side but the back will just be paper..
so clearcoat will just soak through?

the board is cardstock btw o_O

My first choice would be to have it laminated. I get things laminated at the UPS store and while it's covered under an account I don't believe it is too costly.

As far as the clearcoat, I would recommend getting a sample of the same paint on the same paper and spraying a bit.

would the heat effect the acylic paint during lamination?

You know, I have no idea. That's a good point. One thing for sure is that I would let the paint cure for a few days before trying anything. I assume acrylic art paints cure like other acrylics and full hardness is not achieved right away.
