Hi,

Ive noticed that every so often I hear a click noise coming from my filter. At 1st I thought the noise was my fish, but then I would hear it more often and now know its from one of the filters. I have not found out which one though yet. Maybe every 20 mins or so it will be 1 click noise and thats it.

But its a usual thing, so is this bad? Is it a sign of something bad happening or is it nothing to worry about? Thx

What kind of filter?

A small piece of gravel will cause a click.

I would just check your impellers. If you are worried about tearing down the whole thing and losing BB, check one, wait a few weeks and if you find nothing check the other.

it sounds like the impeller. I dont know if you have sand or not, but the metal that the impeller turns around will get eaten away by sand if you get too much sucked in there.

I had an ac 110 brand new out of the box that made this awful racket. It wasnt a random click it was a constant rattling noise. I tried everything I could think of, took it apart, cleaned it, etc. Then I was just about to take it back and for no apparent reason I turned the motor in the filter housing like 1/16th of a turn and it stopped.:screwy: It ran like that for a few days and then I turned it back and it hasnt made a peep since.

No sand, and I doubt its a piece of gravel. Its pretty impossible for a piece of my gravel to fit into either suction piece of the filter. Its not a constant click. Its like maybe every 15/20 mins I'll hear 1 click noise.
