I just got 2 tiny, like 1 in climbing perch, or ctenoma(sp). They are in a 30g which houses my shrimp colonies. They are going to eat the shrimp hopefully because i have 3 tanks of shrimp at the moment and we got extra fish in our order. Right now i have some Omega flakes i feed the shrimp with, will they eat that or whats a better source of food for them? until they start to eat the shrimp.

It depends on whether you have a true climbing perch, Anabas testudineus, or one of the Ctenopoma species. Does it have a bunch of dark spots on the side? If so, it's likely Ctenopoma acutirostre, which is occasionally sold as "spotted climbing perch" or more appropriately as "leopard ctenopoma." IME, Anabas testudineus will eat almost anything, including flakes, whereas Ctenopoma acutirostre tends to favor frozen floods like bloodworms and brine shrimp.

Here's Ctenopoma acutirostre:

Here's Anabas testudineus:

Ctenopomas are hunters that like meaty foods, they also get 8 inches long.

im gonna go out on a limb and guess you have some of those teeny baby leopard ctenopomas, african bushfish, spotted climbing perch etc. acutirostre. i purcahsed 3 over the summer all less than and inch long. fed them on frozen blood worms at first. they are now 3.5 and 2.5 inces (1 disappeared) and eat pretty much anything. freeze dry krill, beefheart, chopped earthworms, shrimp, guppies, crickets, you name it and they will swallow it. very cool to watch them stalk live prey, they slowly maneuver as close as possible then engulf the prey with their huge tubular mouths.

thats what i have. they are awesome and they are already stalking some of the shrimp babies.
