So im doing my weekly water change + glass wipe down and my Caribe decides hes not happy im in there. He darted from across the tank to attack my hand. I use a pretty thick glove when I have my hands in there (mainly to not get the oils from my skin in the water but also for the chance he did come at me) and he took a chunk right out of it. He usually wants nothing to do with it and hides in the corner. Im lucky he just barely broke the skin. Not enough to cause any bleeding but still enough to cause alarm if he was any bigger!

As you can see his bite was about the size of my finger nail and right on the knuckle of the glove. Im sure it would have been painful if he got a good bite! Im thinking as he gets larger I may need to use some sort of handle with the scrubber attached so my hands dont need to go in there. Its an acrylic tank so I like to use a special pad and go slow as not to get any scratching. What do some of you guys use?

Sorry not sure how this got double posted. The other one came up with an error. Maybe a mod can delete it?

You should use cleaning equipment so you don't have to put your hand in the aquarium. That glove is no protection and if the Caribe clamps down you will need stitches. Be careful.

Dude get some butcher gloves. Chain mesh. You lucked out this time. Not exactly a numbers game I would play

Agreed. Chain mesh gloves. Functionality with safety. Unless he goes for your arm.
