I'm brand new and starting a 60g tank.

I filled the tank with tap water and added some prime dechlorinator.

Two days later I added a powerhead and the next day, I noticed the water looked cloudy from the side!

Is this normal?

Yeah, it needs to cycle. Takes weeks if you don't use a pre-existing filter, or fish. Try going to petsmart and getting a few cheap fish to throw in there, or look for that bacteria in a bottle stuff.

dont worry its normal... the tank needs time to cycle.

DO a 50% water change today and then another one in 2 days.....The cloudyiness is due to the bacteria growth that is establishing itself in the tank....It is normalll.............

I have an aquaclear backpack style filter for a 70g.

I read that thread on cycling awhile ago, but the guy at Pet Kingdom told me i didn't need one of those bacteria starters!!!

What do you think? Where should I jump in on the cycle? Should I start over?

The tanks been filtering for 10 days with just the dechlorinated water in it. I got the
decorations soaking in warm water and the sand should be here in a couple of days!

Don't start over. In order to cycle the tank, your going to need some sort of ammonia producer to kick it into gear. Get cheap feeder fish, super easy.

Dude, if you read about how to cycle a tank, either fishless(best way IMHO) or with fish..I don`t get your question. Google nitrogen cycle, your fish will love you for it.

All you are doing is moving water, with no effect on sarting the tanks cycle.

Without ammonia, your cycle will not start. You may have ammonia in your tap water which could have started your cycle,I would test it(your tap water).Having couldy water with just a filter running and no ammonia is a bit odd.
