Are cloudy eyes on my annectens normal or is this the result of him not receiving proper care prior to my getting him?

water changes will go a long way to help out with this, as will monitoring your pH...lungfishes seem to do better at a higher pH (makes sense for africans given their natural habitats in terms of some of their distribution) than lower pH. try adding some crushed coral substrate to your tank, or some pieces of rock such as 'texas holy rock' or other calcium carbonate rich material. this will buffer the pH fluctuations in the tank and help get rid of the cloudy eyes.

he may still be somewhat stressed from his previous conditions, but again, frequent 50% water changes will go a long way to help this out. if you get the chance, check your pH and let us know what that is too--

ps-- while you are checking pH, check the ammo/nitrite/nitrate levels as well :)

Thanks for the feedback. PH 7.6-7.8,Ammo 0ppms,nitrite 0ppms,nitrate30 ppms. Well water run through a softner.
My water changes are 40-50% already so i hope they clear up,thanks
Also plenty of dissolved solids such as carbonates, limestone ect.

Were they like that when you got him? If not, then he could be adjusting to the new water - Sometimes my fish go through a stage where they adjust to "different" water - namely when I go back home in Mass, or return to DC for school. Hasn't been a problem except for one particular dolloi with super sensitive skin. Just keep on top of your water and he'll be okay. I think the others covered it pretty well.
