Cloudy Film On Used 50 Gal Glass Tank

Try some vinegar or even windex. Try to get it off with a sponge. You can also scrape some of it off with a spatula, just make sure it's not scratching the glass. You can use any type of cleaner as long as you make sure you get it all off. The Doctor.

I hear great stuff about CLR. You might try it if the vinegar doesn't work. Just make sure to wash it out really well.

no, most glass has a pretty low reactivity and it takes somethin special to stain it without actually trying.

thats the way mine are. there cloudy when there empty but when I fill them you can't see it any more.

It's usually hard water deposits that have gotten down into the micro-abrasions in the glass. Many of my tanks look dull when empty, but I'm guess the light will bend around them because you can't tell when full.

i just bought a 175 and the left side panel is cloudy but the rest of the tank is perfectly clear. I filled it and it's still cloudy. When i mounted my intank refugium with suction cups then removed it 3 weeks later, the glass was clear where the suction cups were. It wont rub off. I learn to live with it.
