i just did a 50% water change on my tank yesterday but the water is blue now instead of brown, but the water is still cloudy.. any suggestions?? its a 120 gallon tank.

naw bro.. i only got 4 like coral rocks in it and 4 real plants.. and i just had bought new carbon to be safe but its blue and cloudy.. do u think the light being on all day long might be it?? its a 48inch single strip. or may be the the glass on the inside might not be clear??

Also, did you rinse the carbon before you placed it in your tank?

What type of filtration are you running? Also, what type of substrate are you using? Without very much information on your tank's equipment...I would also suggest you add extra mechanical filtration sponges to help clear up some of the extremely fine particles that your charcoal will not catch. I recently had a similar problem and the extra mechanical filtration helped to remove all of the excess dust from the white sand I had added to my new/developing discus tank. Best of luck.

It sounds like it may be a bacterial bloom, clean your filters and keep changing water as often as you can.

Exactly what Dan F said, its cloudy because you triggered a bacteria bloom in your tank. Probably by removing too much watch or cleaning much of the tank. i wouldnt clean your filters, i would do a wc every day at 25% and add a dose of prime or any other ammonia detoxifier. what is the stock of your tank?
