hi I got a new tank and i was wondering when will my tank become less hazy and cloudy because i put alot of sand into my 75 tank. it's USED wet sand that I bought. Is that safe?? i didn't rinse it. how long would it take the tank to unhaze?? also the cloudy water has a green tinge (said in my previous post). how can I remove this. I person recommend me a UV light. Is there a UV light that I can fit in my canopy. Will it harm the fish? Is it expensive. IF it wasn't algae, what would be some other culprits???

thanks

would it be the reflection of the trees outside that causes the greenish colour?? my other smaller tank (beside my green tinged tank) is perfectly clear. Or is it just the sand.

Do multiple large water change til you notice that the water is clearer. In the future it's best to wash anything that you will put in your tank, since you don't know where it have been. The hazy/cloudy can be due to the fact that the sand is dirty. Do large water change til the condition is better, or just save yourself the trouble and take out all the sand and clean it, then place it back inside the tank. It's not easy work, but it'll guarantee that your sand is clean. At this time, if your filter is on, i suggest you might want to turn it off, since dust and tiny bits of sand will clog up and perhaps damage your filter.

im with this guy ^ water changes and patience. and about the uv sterilizer. theres 2 kinds, one that can go into the tank, and once that sits outside of the tank. check out google and ebay and youll see the different kinds. the one that sits inside the tank looks kinda bulky lol. uv doesnt hurt the fish and will clear up algae blooms and bacteria blooms that can make water cloudy. but in your case the waters cloudy most likely from the dirty sand.

will the drty sand settle down and become clear again??
