Hi everyone,
I have had a new fluval profile 323 litre complete kit set up for around a month or so . I have sadly had all the usual new tank water problems , but had finally managed to reach a point where 0 ammonia and nitrite were reading. However , the next few days the water seemed to get more and more cloudy , and now its allmost like soup . Concerned i carried out more water tests and then not convinced i even took a sample to my local fish retailer who also tested my water and came back with 0 nitrite , 0 ammonia and even 0 nitrate .He siad leave it alone and it will clear evantually , stop fussing basically !! I realise this could be the case now , but its the murkiest new tank i have ever owned , and cant help but feel a little frustrated when i look at it and cant even see the back of the tank !! does anyone have any kind and helpful advice what should happen next ? or anyway i can get the tank clearer quicker ? thanks

try throwing in a piece of shrimp. this is a trick i read will put amonia in your tank so that your biological life will begin. hard to think there is none yet but at same time hard to believe its 0-0-0. i do weekly water changes around 40% and usualy have 5-10ppm nitrates 0 nitrite 0 amonia. i never tried the shrimp trick as i usualy throw some cheapies in and overfeed for about a week and ive never lost a fish. oh yea also do a water change check your hardness and a carbon pack will help with clearity. let us know how it turns out

there are fish in it , couple quite big ones 2 , thats why i cant believe the shop reading of 0 -0- 0 !! i had done a water change that day though or the day before that result. I have not tested the water today as i fed the fish this morning so was gonna let it settle and maybe test water later. had to remove carbon as i have 3 silver dollars and they have developed white spot , so things are getting complicated again !!! Of course the day i added them the water tested good .thanks for the input so far everyone

do not do water change when u cycling your water, when ammonia and nitrite read 0 with a crazy figure for nitrate mean your cyaling is done, that is when u do a 50% water change.
for me i would throw in substantial amount of feeder fishes to have enough ammonia

Throw in a few piece of prawn meat to speed up the cycling process. and use a fine filter mat.
