My tank is cloudy and I can't figure out how to fix it. I havent been in the aquarium hobby very long and was wondering if there are any tricks to clear it up. It is a 110 gal. I do a 25% water change every other week. It has never been cloudy until this past week, so I did a water change Thursday night and it is still cloudy. Any tips would be great.

Have you recently added any decor or changed filter without rinsing it first?

Oh and welcome to mfk to you!

Alot of times your water will cloud up if your water parameters suddenly change. Look for a dead fish, maybe some uneaten food that is rotting. A disturbance in your bio media is what it all boils down to in most cases. aka mini cycle. Dont rule out a change in your water supply either. If you use treated tap water, city water supplies change from time to time, which could also be the cause. Id start with checking water parameters. Good luck with it.

well it could be a lot off different things. what type of substrate and how long has it been there? Also, just a side note. You will want to do more than just a 25% w/c every other week. If you do the same but on a weekly basis it will work out much better for your fish.

get a UV sterilizer...trust me you wont regret it
