My 75g has been cloudy now for about two weeks. I'm stumped on what to do. At first I thought it was the sand and dirt mixture I had so I completely tore it down and put flora max in. Well the flora max was clear for about 3 days and now it's like this. I've tried multiple filter pads from medium to ultra fine. Currently filtering the tank is an emperor 400 and sunsun 304b. This all started when I cleaned my emperor about two weeks ago and put in new filter pads. I have a ton of carbon in my canister so I'm kind of lost. Stock includes 3 JD, 1 geo, 2 Senegals, 1 flowerhorn, 2 yoyos, 1 Siamese algae eater, 3 BN plecos, 1 synodontis eupterus, and a carpintis festae hybrid. I know it's over stocked right now but once the cichlids get bigger they will be moved. No one in this tank is over 5" except one of the Senegals. Not too much aggression either just the JDs and geo. I just want to figure out why it's so cloudy because it's not pleasant at all and it's in one of the main rooms of our house. Water parameters are always great except occasional nitrate. Thank you all.

Looks like an algae bloom (green water). I can see the reflection of some of the windows on the tank. So, between that and your tanks lighting = algae

I advise getting rid of the carbon except to rid medications. Carbon can actually do more harm than good. There was a time, when carbon was the norm, not so much now a days.

Are you using the UV from the 304b? This may help with green water

Does some algae just look cloudy like this? It was a heavily planted tank but I started getting tons of black hair algae so I torn pretty much all of it down. It has a 4 bulb t5HO on it so I will do a decent sized water change today and take two of the bulbs out.

No I just recently setup the 304 on this tank. It was on my 150 but I'll turn it on now. I completely forgot about that. Thank you.

There's your green water food source, t5HO.

I saw a window reflection on your tank, do you have direct sunlight from window to your tank? Getting a UV light would taken care of that.
