Recently I added a 750 Canister filter to my 90gal and the water became very cloudy right after I turned it on. There is only two sponge filters and carbon filter media in the canister. It doesn't look like bottom particles getting stirred up, it's just very cloudy. I think I might not have rinsed the carbon well enough but I'm wondering if this is a problem or will just go away over time. The main reason I'm nervous is because my largest pbass would not eat today. He seems bummed out. =( Any advice will help. Thanks all!

what color is the cloud?

i get that all the time... i think its from the return hoses. dont worry it should go away

Hmm, did it come from the return? last time when i fired up my canister after cleaning it spewed white stuff everywere, cleaned up though.

But i just have retarded guppies so they thought it was fun and swam through it.

not sure what it is, hope it clears up.

I'm guessing that it's the carbon also. Whenever i change out my carbon it makes the tanks kinda cloudy for a day or 2.

is the canister filter and all its media brand new? if so, then your tank probably needs to be cycled. (bacteria bloom is the white cloud you see)
