Hi,
I started cycling my new 180 gal tank 4 days ago, and yesterday just got all the sand in, so I put in about 150 pounds of 100% silica sand, and of course, it got super cloudy, but I have my filter on, and the tank is still cloudy, I put the sand in last night at 10:30 pm and turned the filter back on at 8 am this morning, so its been almost 12 hours since the filter has been on, is this normal? or should i do a partial water change?

Yeah I didn't rinse at all. I was tired while doing it so I wasn't thinking. So just keep doing water changes daily to clear it up?

so I just took out 20% water, and took my siphon vac and took up as much as i could, there was a layer of dust! i guess the "bottom of the bag" stuff, my guess is this is what's causing the cloudiness, so i vaced that as much as i could, then took a garden hose and hosed all the sand, causing all the "dust" to come back up into the water and into the filter intake, hopefully this will clear up in a couple days now.
