So I over fed a couple days in my 180gal. Now the water is really cloudy. I have a diy wet dry sump that is 40gal. Please give me some ideas on how to clear up the cloudiness. Polishing pad on top of the trickle filter might cause problems so i'm not really sure what to do.

Definately don't go with the bacterial fix in a bottle. This stuff quite often makes the problem worse. You can get a micro filter insert to take colour and fine particles out, but i would just lay off the food for a couple of days and she should clear up. If not try 10gal water changes with aged water every 4-5 days? I hope she clears up nice n quick for ya mate...

Is the water cloudy green or cloudy white? Also what are your water parameters and how long has the tank been established? What size tank do you have and is it heavily stocked?

It seems like you might be going through a "mini re-cycle" of the tank. Over feeding or over stocking a tank can do that.

only time will clear the water if your going through a minicycle. Why do people overfeed?? fish dont need a lot of food or for that matter need food everyday.

what should i do mime is clouldy but with small white dust looking stuff it floots on the top of the tank and my powerhead kicks it around i tryed water changes didnt work what now?

Avoid feeding for a week or so, don't feel bad, it will benefit your fish, they can last so much longer without food than you realise. Do a few small water changes with aged water if you can over the next few days. Avoid using any chemicals that claim to clear up water cloudiness, they aren't very good for your fish or tank in general.

Replace your mechanical filter medium, it's too dirty. Do not replace it all though, the bacteria that keeps your tank healthy lives in your filter medium.

first filter change for that tank and it worked perfict tank u

It's cloudy white and ammonia level is good. ph is perfect at 7.0 - 7.5
the tank is cycled for atleast 2 months now. it is filtered by a 40 gal diy wet dry sump that has a mag 12 pump. There isn't many fishes just 2x 3" silver dollar, 6 inch flag tail, 1x 2" thinbar dat, 1x 3" dat.
