Never in my years of aquarium keeping have I ever had this happen , I can only guess what I think the problem might be ...
I have a 180gallon fresh water set up , It has been up running for 5 months so it IS well over cycled my water prams all check out , .

Possible problem #1 : when I did my water change 2 weeks ago I accidentally took the tank down/drain watter to probably 1/4 percent , It was after this watter change I noticed the watter stating to get hazy It seemed more hazy by the day , Keeping a eye on my watter prams for a week , I decided to do a 50% watter change to try to get the hazy out it worked for a day then right back to cloudy watter , I run 1 FX-5 with all the proper maintenance and bio to keep a healthy tank

Possible problem #2: I have sand in my tank and large cichlids they kick up sand on a regular bases , so cleaning my FX-5 on a weekly bases is a must , I do a good job getting all the sand out , IS IT POSSIBLE THE SAND effected the efficiency of the filter and it is not preforming to its specks , I can feel current coming out the return just like I did pre cloudy watter I THINK .

I DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHAT IS GOING ON .

I assume that "1/4 percent" means 25 percent, not .25%. If it was really 1/4 percent, then the water was down to the substrate?

1) Posting whether it's white, grey or green would help.
2) describing what is in the tank (animals-number and sizes, plants- number and types) might help
3) describing how you did the water change 2 weeks ago in more detail might help
4) lighting and length of time lights are on (if the water is greenish) would probably help

Since I have to guess, I'll assume it's grey-white water. It could be buildup of chemicals, but the most likely cause is a bacterial bloom due to excess organics in the tank (over feeding or a dead animal.) That's just a guess based on limited information. If it's greenish, then it's algae.

Is it possible for this to happen if you added a AC 110 to an already established aquarium?

This is my tank ,You can see how cloudy the watter is especially when I back the camera up and from the side shot ,
I thought maybe a dead fish but everybody looks present , I thought my watter prams are way off but there not , I thought the FX-5 was not preforming but it is , Its not alga bloom in the watter , I have no oil cooled pumps in the watter so its not oil (I ACTUALLY had this happen to me with my salt water tank) , Its getting better SLOWLY I have to assume that when I removed over 75% of the tanks watter I jacked somthing up but what I dont understand it that even on my new tank set ups I never had a tank cloudy this long its been about 9 days for this established tank . im going to change 25% today and see what happens

Lovely tank and fish!

I guess its just a bacteria bloom aswell, which I guess would return if you did another water change until its settled down. Its all harmless if it is that.

Moved to setup/filtration.
