I have been having problems with my 180 for weeks now .my watetr is always cloudy. I HAVE BEEN DOING 30% WATER changes every 5 to 7 days . have a wet/dry system with a 40gal sump icant remember the pump size but it was more than what was needed.ph 6.8 0 nitrites 0low nitrates .tank has been cycled for about 6 months. any ideas

My waters been a little cloudy too, I'm going to try that light theory of yours. Is there a maximum/minimum amount of hours they should on?

try midnights idea. then go back to your normal lighting system if that does not work and try using ro water from your LFS in your next water change and see what happens. If it clears up with all other variables constant than there is somthing wrong with your tap water.

pretty sure you can black out the tank for a few days "no lights"
i do just a couple hours a day if im "clearing" the tank.
maximum light is tuff to say.
all lights/setups are different.

this is true, my lighting was clouding up my tank also , well it was combination lighting and the frozen foods causing bad phosphate levels .definatly get a phosphate test kit .
