cloudy water

ok i got this problem i have a 65 gal tank been running for 5 mos ive got ac70 and pengiun
200 i think. any way my prob. i cant get my water clear. its not bio cloud or green.it seems to have small particals floating in the water.all perrams seem good.what i did was took my ac301 powerhead and put a sponge on it. still have particals floating around. i do about 15 gal per week water change. thanks for any help

Have you tried using filter floss rather than sponge?

You can try to put some fine mesh media in the two filters. like this http://www.drsfostersmith.com/Product/Prod_Display.cfm?pcatid=4353&N=2004+113808
or any watch polishing media. That should clear your tank up.

If you don't want to wait for shipping, go to cloth store (sewing ctr) and purchase some white felt. There are a couple different weights available. Rinse before use.

have not tried floss,i use 2 sponges in my ac70 for extra bio. but i will swap 1 for floss and see if that works.thanks.....

Drift wood or anything natural?


Perhaps a flocking agent to speed the clear up...

i've found sponges on their own don't clear tiny particles up very well. Floss works a treat

last resort, you could always put in some water claryifier drops in there..its best to use the least amount of chemicles as you can though
