cloudy water

i just set up tank and put black aquarium sand in it the water is still very cloudy how long does it take to clear up this is my 1st time dealing with sand

after i put natural colored sand in my 10 gal, it took like 5 mins for everything to go back to normal. that was only like 10 pounds though, so depending on tank size it might take longer but i would imagine it shouldnt stay cloudy for very long.

hopefully u rinsed it first and got all of the dust out and all the other crap with it.

It sounds like the rocks needed to be rinsed out more thoroughly.
