I just rescued a male melanochromis along with a peacock eel. And the cichlid has a cloudy film over his eyes... Is this permanent? Right now I have him in a 10gallon before I put him into my 75g. Is there anything I can do to fix this, to make his sight better? he still knows when I come up to the tank and begs for food but when I put the food in the tank he always misses I practically have to put it right in front of him.

cloudy eye usually comes from poor water quality, or injury from aggression. I wouldn't be quick to use meds unless it look like its infected. Small daily water changes will go a long way.

Thanks I'll give it a shot. I just don't think he could even compete in my other tanks right now... I feel bad for the poor chap when I got him he was in a 10g with no filter just an airstone, 5goldfish and the eel :[ I didn't want the goldfish so I scooped the other two up.

Usually if only one eye is cloudy then it's likely an injury. If both eyes are affected then it's likely a bacterial issue due to stress from poor water quality. I would add some epsom salt as well and if you don't see improvement then I would consider meds. I use a tablespoon per 10 gallons
