Does anyone know if the medicine "clout" will kill Pacu's? It says not to use with piranha or metynnis. Has anyone used it with red belly Pacu's?

Clout, not appropriate for scaleless fish.....that said, I have treated my clown loaches for ICK with it.....

The dosage I used on the loaches was 1 (ONE) capsule per 90 gallons, 1/2 tank water change 24 hours later, and repeated....this did the trick....

I have too used 1 capsule per 90 gallon on a 11" Rhom, without trouble....2 capsules on the same Rhom, and he stopped eating, and didn't look to well!!!

Maybe you should give more info on the issue witht he Pacu, and you might get another method of treatment....

cheers
Good Luck

I wouldnt use it personally, pacu are related to piranhas so I would assume that it would be bad for them too.

Yes, it would be harmful to pacus. Manufacturers should provide a care sheet with information about their products supplementing the label on product bottles. Some do, some don't.

If you've purchased the product already, make a list of the active ingredients and do a Google search on each of the ingredients.

From the number of active ingredients contained in the list of ingredients in Clout, alarm bells should go off. The product is directed at such a broad range of problems, it's somewhat like making your own medicine cocktail from your personal medicine cabinet.

My 180 gallon tank is infected with leeches. I gambled and mixed in some green sunfish, bluegills and bass I caught without quarantining them.:( The pacu is not bothered by them but another resident is.

Leaches you should be able to physically pull them off,no? If the Pacu is not affected, I would set him up in a temp tank, container, then treat the whole tank.....

I would go no more then 2 capsules in the 180 with the Pacu in there.....

Regular dosage is 1 capsule per 10 gallons. Clout is pretty potent stuff, and will do in the leaches for sure....but you might want to look for something less stressful on the fish...

good luck

many fish are sensitive to the meds for parasites. I'd agree with the suggestion for pulling the leeches from the affected fish. Examine all of the fish. work on the one with leeches and then monitor the tank to insure that you got them all.
