Odd question here.
My roommate and I recently tried to make up some homemade clove oil because my roomie didn't wanna spend the money on the store bought stuff heh. We bought some dried clove and she made some oil according to an oil making book she apparently has. Camallanus turned up in one of my tanks and so I tried to use some of this stuff to euthanize affected fish. Well, it didn't mix with the water and the fish just seemed unhappy but not at all drifting off to sleep.. I tried shaking it up, no effect. I assume the clove oil I can purchase in the stores isn't like this stuff and mixes with water? Ultimately, I ended up freezing the fish, but I've heard this isn't as humane as possible. I just want to make sure Im not just doing something wrong before I go out and buy the store brand.
