Hey,

I was wondering the other day about clove oil. I've heard it can be used to knock a fish out for a bit. I'd like some info on the stuff. is there a special type of clove oil just for fish? do you just add a couple of drops in the water? Whats the dosage? And how long do they last for? Why dont more people use clove oil to move large fish? Are there any side effects? Sorry for all the questions

Clove oil cna be found at most health food stores its often used to ease tooth pain. You shaould be able to find it at the pharmacist under the active ingredient Eugenol.dosage is
appox.10 drops per quart of water. It does not dissolve well so it should be premixed in warm water before adminstering.
side effects can include death if overdosed-Anne

it's used to numb your nervous system or something.

I only know because I used to smoke clove cigarettes.

there was a paper written just on the efffects of clove oil on fish but I didn't read it.

seems to work from the experience of other people.

There was an article in TFH on using clove oil to nock out puffer fish to clip their teeth.
