my blue damsel and ocellarus clown are getting along pretty good. i was a little prehensive about putting him in there and i was preparing to take the damsel out but they seem fine together. my clown does seem to hide in the corner. well not really "hide" but that's his home, he's always there when it's lights-out. should i get an anenome for him. whats the smallest hardiest anenome that would work with him. also im worried about it killing the damsel (i've grown quite attachedto him) and any other fish i put in there. do the other fish just instinctively stay away from anenomes? or what?

Im not sure of the individual species.
Most fish do instinctively stay away but in a tank its made alot harder. I lost a rabbitfish and a dragoin wrasse to my haddoni. Both times where at night (diff nights) and i only new the anenomie did it because it regurgitated/crapped out bones and spines from them both. I had them with eels though which possibly startled them and they blindly darted to there deaths.
I seriously doubt an ocellarus would do it but ive also seen my clarkii clowns attempt to drag 2 diff bi colour blennies into the haddoni they lived in, luckily either there struggling or my movements outside the tank ended up with the clowns giving up.
Ide still gladly do it again though as its worth it to see the clowns hosting.

i was thinking a BTA. is this good for a deginner anenome keeper? i dont know what kind it is (or even if there are kinds) but's it's all pink with not very pronounced bubbles.

I would suggest a sebae as they don't get huge and they don't get big so it is perfect for the smaller tanks. I lost 1 to a heater explosion (but then it killed 2 carpets as well), and two to rock slides caused by Mexican turbo snails and urchins.

sabae anemones?
don't they just keep growing?

also, now that i mentions it, how do you keep anenomes small?

Dont get one of them they ar hard to keep. Just get a bubble tipped.
What sorts of light do you have?? If you dont have or arent getting halides ide almost just forget about it.

You do not need halides to keep sebae anemones. I keep them under compacts and even standard fluorescents. I love bubble tips and riderii anemones. Carpets seem to catch a lot of fish and they stick very well to human flesh so be careful not to damage them by touching them during tank maintenance!!

Got any pics of your sabaes under flouros?? How long did you have it for setup like that?? I wont believe it till i see it.
PC works in shallow tanks but i had 160-180 watts (i think) of pc over a 4x2x2 and my bubble tip started bleaching so i had to get a halide for it.

wow. a couple of things i need to say:
1) 1 x 10000K PC
1 x actinic PC
2) tank is only 19 inches deep, rock goes to about 5" from the surface
3) other than the BTA what kind can/should i get
4) how do i stop them from overtaking my tank? there's no coral or other anenomes in there, and i'm hoping fish know naturally to stay away from them.
