hey i finally got my marroon clown an anenome today (magnifica) and she started eating it!!!!!!!!
i have no idea whats wrong, she just ripped off some of the tenticles and ate them and then bit the stem part, so i moved the anenome to a breedin net and came here to post.

is this normal? whats wrong otherwise? i was told she would take to it straight away with no problems??????

HELP!!!!

Not sure, never kept anemones, maybe the two were not mutual? i heard some anemones/clowns weren't compatible.

maroons don't take to anemones that easily as they are very large. Carpet nems would the best bet but, its hard to say why they reacted like that. Can the fish view the anemone where its at now. Allow him to see the nem for a week or two and then see what happens. Also keep the maroon well fed, this will reduce some aggression.

ok i talked to a few very knowledgable people and they have never seen this before, but they think that its due to it not being a bubble tip, so its going back to the store and getting swapped with a bubble tip.

You really should have introduced the anemone into the tank first and give it some time to acclimate itself, then introduce the clown.
I have seen maroon clowns hosting all different types of anemones like condys bubble tips, carpets.
Was the anemone already being hosted by that clown?

lol the clown was the first fish into the tank over three months ago, shouldnt be a problem according to a marine biologist mate of mine, he wants me to try and pair them so he can see the clown eating it and take photos...i told him to go jump
