I recently received a clown only had him for 3 days now! & I have some smaller size dragon wrasse & a picasso triggerfish! Has anyone have or had the clown grouper with good or bad experience & what did you find was a favorite food for this med size beast!! Like I said he is new to the tank only 3days & its Expected not to see him I get but I really want to get him to feed! & not on his smaller Neighbors I know it's a real possibility but I want to try to keep him full so i can limit that chance of happening!! Thanks..... p.s. he is around 10"

Krill, smelt, squid, and any other meaty foods you can find they will gladly take. Even when fed well you might lose some tank mates.

ya unfortunately the possiblity of some fish ending up as a taste snack is a fact!! ...I threw in a dozen blue damselfish & have a few chromes & he hasn't touch them yet! Or the krill I thrown in as well. I'm sure its because his only been in the tank now going on 4 days!! But thanks for you responding!!

You are taking a big risk. I've learned that things don't always work out the way we would like. Wouldn't trust the Clown Grouper with that Dragon Wrasse.

Sucks!! Because I dont think I can catch him in this tank with all the live rock!! To move him to the 55gal......& I have found out that before with a coral grouper that ate my last dragon wrasse ?.....but unfortunately this clown grouper was a birthday gift & was in the tank already when I got home!! But I'm very fond of the grouper!! Always wanted one!

Just course what makes the dragon more desirable then the other fish that are same size or smaller in the tank? Is it the crazy movement of the wrasse?

Tbh I'm not sure it's the movement of the Dragon Wrasse but the size. You know from experience that Groupers have very large mouths and most are glutinous eater's. Hopefully things go well.

Hey bro! Did you own this grouper before? If so did you have a problem getting him to eat? Newly add to the tank aside! ...I have tried everything to get him to eat he is very much Interested in the food I drop in & comes up from under rocks or out the cave system to see what I'm dropping into the tank & follows the food down & looks at it for a moment & then moves on! I have tried silver sides & krill + squid & I have thrown in live food such as blue damselfish & live crab & no luck .....but the very first day I added him to the tank he did suck up a couple pieces of silver side! But nothing since! Any thoughts?

Try rods food for predators and marine cuisine.
Dont feed him anything live if you want to try to keep him with smaller fish.

Thanks! Yeah I only added the damselfish in hope to keep him away from my juvenile dragon wrasse & juvenile picasso triggerfish!
