So I have had my goniopora for two weeks now and it has been doing great! I know that they are somewhat hard to keep and all that, but we will see how it goes. Recently, however, my clown has been attempting to host it. This would be great and all except for the fact that every time my clown touches it, the goniopora closes...I wish that it would stop, but I dont think that will happen. Anyway, I was wondering if it is "bad" for the coral to open and close every few minutes. I am planning on getting a BTA for the clown to host in and hopefully he wont bug the goniopora anymore. Let me know what you guys think!!!!

O one more thing...my frogspawn released a single piece of what appeared to be a "spore" it was about the size of a small pea and it landed on my leather. Now the leather appears to have a "burn" mark on it. Should I just let the leather be or should I worry and pull it out?

It' normal for a clown to host in a LPS coral if there is no anenome available, i'm not too sure if it's detrimental to the coral but i've seen it happen a few times with no problems.
Also i probably wouldn't put a bubble tip in a coral tank, anenome's and corals don't really get on too well.

I assume your clown is irritating it since its closing. I would get rid of one or the other. I had clowns host polyps and they got really damaged. I tried putting the polyps into another tank and returning it a month later, but they just went right back to it. Had to get rid of the coral.

I have seen clowns host frogspans before and no damage was done, but as far as your case goes i'm not sure. When it re-opens does it appear damaged at all? AS far as the anemone goes, it should be fine with the corals as long as it's not touching them. Yes anemones move, but once they find a spot that they like they usually stay in that place. Then you can move your corals around accordingly. Hopefully your clown will transfer over to the anemone. I have seen people have anemones in their tanks and the clown would rather host the glass in a corner or some other strange object.

The goniopora does not appear to be damaged from the clown. It reopens withing a few minutes.

I agree with the anemone not being harmful in the tank. I wouldnt allow the anemone to come anywhere near another coral. I would move the other coral and let the anemone go where it wants. I am definitely going to pick up a BTA. The clown hosted in an anemone before I received the fish and attempted to semi host the frogspawn I have. Thankfully it stopped bugging the frog spawn and everything.

As you can see in my avatar...I have a clown hosting a feather duster.

The duster eventually became adjusted to it, and stopped retracting.

I would be somewhat nervous about the goni, but if it starts to show tolerance this will be a great way to insure that your coral is getting food on a regular basis.

Just make sure that your clown isnt over hosting it

Sweet! As of right now, the clown isnt bugging the goni as much!

the clown will definately kill the goni. they are very sensitive if it starts to take a turn for the worse its too late.

its definitely not taking a turn for the worse. It still expands, just not as far as it used to but all the separate stalks extend. I added some flow over it and the goni appears to be less sensitive to the clown. Ill keep you guys posted
