I just got a 18" clown knifefish from my lfs that was beaten up by an RTG (torn fins and chewed end of tail). He is recovering in my 320g tank and seems to be getting along with his tankmates. They are 2 motoro rays (16" and 13"), 3 mono pbass (14", 12", 11"), 1 walking cat (12") and 1 scared ntt (6"). I'll be moving the dat soon.

Will this combination work in the long run? If my rays breed again (they have 3 times before) do I have to worry about the ck or the catfish eating the pups before I can separate them? I don't want to put a divider in the tank as it would be too restrictive for these big fish (the pbass fight sometimes). Everybody is eating market shrimp so feeding is no problem (except on the pocket book - 1 lb of shrimp/day).

Thanks. They are a lot of work but are worth it.

Walking cat may eat the pups and my CK ruthlessly killed my rays :P but that was a smaller tank too...

 I will definitely have to keep an eye on them. I tried to get the cat out of the tank but he was too fast for me. I'm going to have to get a larger net and maybe corner him with the some egg crate.

The clown knife has been safe so far with the rays and was well behaved with the previous owners fish. I'm not sure where I'd put him if he got aggressive as he is over 18" and I'd hate to have to put him down (the nearest lfs is 100 miles away).
