Clown knife and Royal mix?

I'm thinking of getting a royal clown knife and already have a normal clown knife the normal one I have will be quite a bit bigger than the royal.
Do you think it would work? Are clown knives known to have ferocious fights which result in death?
 
They must be of near equall size , I have 3 knife's 2 clown and 1 royal . The royal is the smallest about 10inches , 1 clown 14inches , 1 clown 17inches. I had 1 royal and I clown knife and tired to add a smaller royal , than the other royal . The bigger royal won't accept the smaller one and bite and attacked him . Until he was hurt enough that the other fish started attacking him. The large clown knife protected him from the other fish . I took him out and put him in another tank , but he was to injured he DIED
 
Ive put the royal in and the clown has taken a couple of swipes at it.:irked:
With the people that have successfully mixed them, how did it go? did the current fish show its dominance then leave the new fish alone or was it fine right off the bat?

Still got my fingers crossed.
 
I've had it go both ways. The first time was a few bites and tail whips for a day, and the second time I tried the fish both bit on each others fins and swam in circles. They didn't stop until I took one out. They do need to be similar size IME.
 
My clown nipped it a couple of times and and pushed it around but not constantly it would do it and swim back to its hiding spot.
My red devil ended up trying to pick on it too so I took it out (royal).
I'll revamp the tank and try again later.
 
Changed my tank aroud a bit and added an extra hiding spot the clown knives seem to be fine now the big clown pushed the royal around a little but now doesnt even notice it, they even hide in the sam log yippeee!!:headbang2

The red devil still kept on picking on the royal so shes off to the fish shop on Monday.
 
can be done but its really hard with 2 knifes unless raised togeather from when young even then they get territorial when older best to do groups of 3 or more or just 1
