clown knife, do they gain spots as they grow?

I just got a 3" clown knife fish today, he/she has four dots on each side. I wanted to know if they gain more spots when they get bigger or not. The girl at the lfs said they did...

Yeah they normally do gain alot more as they grow up.

Based on my experience(I'd 1 clown knife before), it has the same number of spots as it matures from 3" to 10"..

My clown knife had the same spot count and pattern from when he was just 2.5 inches long.

I have been told that some spots are very very light on babies and will get darker, but its also possible to not have any spots. "chitala chitala"

heres when he was a baby{the last pic} ...and now... alot more spots as he grew..seems like his original spots broke off into more spots..

they are suppose to.but i have heard of some that doesn't get any spots(haven't seen any though)

I have one that has a new spot coming in right now. I noticed it for the first time yesterday, but its definitely new.

As they mature they can change, but it can also depends on their environment. I remember someone throwing their CK in a pond for the warmer months and when he went to go retrieve it, the spots changed in just a few months. The CKs that I've kept never really changed on me, but I did have one that I put in my pond as well and it's spots turned into "flower" spots.
