Hi, i have a baby clown knife along with a few other predators in my tank but my knife struggles to to get food because of my peacock bass. He usually eats feeder fish, but since I got the bass he hasnt got any food because the bass eatd it so fast. What else can i feed my pbass, and how?

Thanks

Wow...a peacock bass with a clown knife? I would think the peacock bass would bully it. If the peacock bass gets to the food faster, then it just isn't going to work out probably. One of them probably needs to go (I would think). Anyway, I would keep trying to feed it guppies & brine shrimp; but idk man

Peacock bass is smaller then rest of the fish, hasn't bothered anything yet. What type of brine shrimp though? Freeze dried or what?

Should try to pellet train them. I also have a ck with a peacock bass. Ck is 20 inches and peacock is 14 inches. I feed the peacock floating pellets and the ck sinking. The ck picks the pellets off the bottom of the tank pretty fast.

Two ideas for you:
1) If you're putting all your feeders into the tank at one time, stop. Put them in a few at a time and when the pbass are full, add some more for the knife. Don't know if it'll for sure work for you, but it definitely worked for us when one of our pbass was eating waaaaay more than the others.
2) I have a royal knife and while he probably likes feeders best, he'll also scavenge. He's in with our catfish. He's usually a little shy, but when he's hungry he comes and takes what he wants and no one messes with him. He seems to really like smelt and shrimp (as a side note, our pbass wouldn't touch dead food if live was availible so the cut foods may be left alone by the pbass, until you have weened them off feeders anyway, so just introducing some cut food into your tank may ensure your clown knife eats).

Good luck!

Try getting them on Pellets. And try to use sinking pellets. Pbass will slow down once they start getting full. At that point, you should add some more food for your CK. It's worked for me in the past. Eventually the CK was bold enough to eat with the Pbass.
