hey guys I've had my clown knife fish thats around 7 inches right now for a year now and i got him at about 3 or 4 inches. is it normal for them to be growing this slow? he usually hides in a little cave in the driftwood and only comes out during the night time to investigate my payara or at feeding time. is he growing slow because the cave is too small? all of the large clown knives I've seen don't have any hiding places and just swim around, so should i remove the driftwood? thanks any help is immensely appreciated.

Well what size is your tank I have had mine for 3 years got him 3in
and he is now 6 in from the start he was in a 220 but the bigger the tank the slower the fish grows

"The bigger the tank the slower the fish grows"?? its the complete opposite.

its in a 60 gallon grow out tank with a juvenile armatus, a pacu, an iridescent shark, an oscar, and a pleco

the tanks pretty small so.. but i think your right because my pacu steals most of the food from him i have to hand feed him in his cave if i want him to get a lot

Mattmez my apologies. I didnt fully understand what u meant. I also forgot to put in the element of competition for food. In that case, you are absolutely correct.
