Wondering what the growth rate is for a clown knife i have him in with 2 oscars an aro, tsn x rtc, jack dempsey. i recently returned some fish because i was advised it was overstocked they are in a 125 and the oscars catfish are growing faster then he is so i put him in a divider to try and beef him up bc he was gettin harrased a bit ne advice?

No matter how much you try and fatten the clownknife up it will just take too long, they are not as fast growers in small tanks. Clownknifes need larger tanks and freedom of moment in a tank to grow what people call fast. But in general they are not fast growers.

Your tank will not last long with your other stock, You will need a tank between 225 and 300 gallons for life with the fish you want to keep, Minus the catfish. Both cat fish will need to be moved to a pond or very very large Tank for life when the time comes. Also there is a high probability that the catfish will simply grow to fast and eat most if not all your other fish.

I dont know how big your clown knife is, but if you did get a bigger tank, you could use your 125 as a grow out for the clownknife.

You can also think of it this way, I have a 570g tank and I wont buy a RTC or TSN, as I dont have a Pond to dump them in once they get larger than 3 feet.
There are other catfish that you can buy that dont grow past 2 or 2 1/2 feet that are Monsters.

If you already have a Plan then great, drive on Im just offering my Point of view, good luck and hope you can sort things out.

I've usually gotten 1" per month out of mine.

My two biggest are a little under two feet long. They grew fast to around 15-17" and have slowed down since. I believe they reach a point though when they begin to grow taller, almost more broader, instead of steadily growing length wise. Just my opinion with what I've seen with the ones that I have.

;) Don't know the present sizes of your group but I do know that 125g is not gonna be big enough in a very short time. CK's tend to grow in spurts, but overall the growth process is rather slow. Factor in also that you've got a lot of compitition both territorial & aggressive. This can effect the growth rate negatively. Water quality, type of food, frequency, time of day ect. are all things that play a role in growth rate. Increase the tank size or further decrease the number of inhabitants if you want all to reach their max, healthy potential. JMPO, "T"
