Cant take pics, it hides and too fast

when i got it it was only 4 inches, not its about 5.5 to 6 inches.

Eats prawns and mostly sinking carnivore hikari pellets. Lots the stuff.

Then i noticed 2 days ago.
That one side, you can see the gills more than the other. BUt was still eating prawns (big pieces) and sinking pellets.
But today it didnt eat at all. No injuries or anything.

But i noticed, you know when knife fish eat and swallowing something, the bottom of the jaw portrudes out and when it swallows, it comes back inward so the bottom of the jaw looks level and smooth.

That bit that protrudes out as it swallows is permanently out. as if it has something in its mouth, trying to swallow but there isnt.

I have never had good luck with clown knifes (this is my second attempt) i dont know why this one is like this.

Any feedback or shoudl i just leave it alone and see what happens. I guess if it looks healthy and eats - and gets bigger its ok?

Same thing happens with me especially when he eats silversides.. Just leave him alone he should be fine unless he got attacked by another fish in the tank.. wat other fish are in the tank... Also becareful because i noticed that their scales get injured easily

Yes, easily scratched.
in there is an aro and a ornate bichir.
Nothing attacks it, it will swim side by side with the aro and bichir. the bichir is very timid. so is the aro actually - never attacks or postures itself for threats or anything.

it generally eats quite abit - but today it didnt eat, could result from yesterday i fed it heaps! but just concerned.
well hope it will straighten itself out

yea good luck with it, im guessing its probably becuase you possibly overfed it the day before, dont worry too much tho, it should be fine

didnt eat again today
i worked hard to gt photos
here is the best i could get

as youc an see, it doesnt look normal.
it tried to go for food but didnt get it. and it ignored the rest. once in a while it wil kinda stretch its mouth but fast, not slow... like its trying to vommit or spit food out but nothing comes ut. i look inside the mouth, i cant seem to see anything stuck but perhaps i missed it. but like i said, it has eaten 2 days ago with its mouth like this.

Kind of hard to tell, but it doesn't look right. Maybe separate it if you can and bump up the temp and add salt.

^yup. maybe he ate something sharp ? i swear i think i seen my ck eat a small rock while chasing fish. u should qt him i think too. gl

Ouch man. Exact thing happened to my CK about 4 days ago. I quarantined and added salt. He ate some, then stopped eating yesterday and he died today. Upon further inspection he also had a tear in his gills. I thought it was a battle wound from my bicher, but it doesn't quite look like another fish could do that to it.

Good luck. Let us know if it improves so I know what to do next time.
