up to 4', but usually 30-36" max in aquaria, and about 12" tall. expect your 6-7" ck to be atleast 20"+ in a year and needing atleast a 180g in a year.
Wow, I think I would be scared of a 4' Knife, that's crazy, would love to see one that big.
How easily would an RTC, MRTC, or RSNxRTC eat a knife? Im planning a pond for monster cats, would be able to go in with them if they were all similar sizes or is that a bad idea?

I'd say make sure the CK is just alittle bigger than the cats. You just can't trust those cats sometimes. 
I paid 2.99 for mine when he was about 4 inches. He was actually labeled as a "tinfoil barb". Two years later he is over 2 feet long.
Very cool. Well other than the 2.99 $12 doesn't sound too bad for a ~6"/7"
