Something crappy happened today. My girlfriend and I went to a chap's house today to pick up a 9" CK that was advertised on CL, but left with nothing. We looked the fish over and everything looked good. In fact, all of the fish in the tank looked good. The fish was netted perfectly, no chasing around or knocking things over, but as soon as the fish got into the bag, he flipped over. The fish was dumped back into the tank and floated down to the bottom of the tank upside down and lost all color. We obviously left and told the person to keep us updated and to let us know if the Ck pulls through. He has told us that the color looks better and its swimming around, but we're weary about buying it. So, I guess my questions are: Has this happened to anyone before? Is this common for stressed CKs? And, if he does pull through, should we wait a day or two for the tank to settle down?
Any help would be greatly appreciated:)

If everything seemed fine before and after that odd incident I would just think its stress, but im not a fish doctor and very well could be wrong. Definatly wait a couple days until you contact your friend again, let the fish settle down andget back to usual.

yeah its a gamble never heard of a fish doing that even if its free you dont want to have it die if it does it again and if its happy in its current tank but then again the guy wants or has to get rid of it so someone is going to get it

When I got mine it was delivered went from a bucket to bag just big enough to hold him straight up and down left him in for 15 min. to get temps right. With as stressful as that was he never did anything like that. So best of luck to ya man

Yeah mine has been moved quite a bit and hes never done anything like that. He seems to have learned that the net isn't a threat and doesn't really fight it anymore.

Alright, after some deliberation we got the CK. He seems to be doing great in our 55 he'll be in for a couple days while we watch him. I think it was just the acute stress that caused it. It only took about an hour for him to start patrolling the tank so i think all is well!
